A bit of encouragement for your Wednesday:
No matter what business you are a part of, you can’t possibly screw up as much as the Costa cruiseline.
Seriously. First, their captain runs the ship aground. Then, they lose power to a ship in the middle of water surrouded by pirates.
Can’t get much worse than that…
I don’t know who that person is…
Seeing as how there are a lot of new readers on here, I thought it would be fun to do a little getting to know you post. Heck, some of the people who I do know might learn something here. It’s WIN-WIN. Here are the top 5 things you don’t know about me:
5. I’m obsessed with The Hunger Games. Ok, so some of you know this but not everyone. That’s why it’s numero cinco. Hubby questioned whether or not the books could really be that good…we’re not on speaking terms anymore.
4. Taylor Swift and The Pioneer Woman are my BFFs in my own little world. This is just too weird to type out…going to bake cupcakes and be normal now.
3. I wish I could do all the crafty neat things on Pinterest. But I can’t. I’m really doing well if I can make the recipes that I find on there.
2. I have developed an affection for baking. I recently acquired my grandmother’s cookbooks and recipes. It’s like a living Pinterest “MAKE THESE RECIPES NOW” board. My favorite is her icing. I may or may not have just licked most of what I had intended to put on those cupcakes.
1. If I turn out to be an author, I’m ok with that. I really do love to teach, but there are aspects of teaching that crossover with writing. For instance, you speak at conferences and book talks if you’re awesome. I can totally do that.
Your turn: what’s one thing I don’t know about you?
I thought I could get away with just a little note at the bottom of my last post welcoming new peeps to the Recreational Word Slinger. Boy was I wrong!
You guys…and gals…deserve your own post! The response from the article has been astounding to me. I thought maybe if I was lucky I could pick up a couple of new readers, but I had no idea it would be this many. I am so honored that you clicked over here from Money Saving Mom. To help you familiarize yourself with this blog, you might want to read this older post. I wrote it as a reference point to any new readers that I might acquire.
Basically, I write about writing and life. I’m writing my first novel, and I have had several “revelations” or “insights” occur to me along the way that I like to think and write about. I also do a humor piece every Wednesday called “Encouragement Wednesday.” You can read all previous Encouragement Wednesday posts by clicking here. I try to regularly incorporate humor into my posts, though.
Thanks for reading!
Today’s the day peeps! Here’s the article I wrote for Money Saving Mom: How to Be Content With Less. Head on over to the website to read the full article. In the article, I give 3 ways that I think can help you be more content with less stuff. I hope you find the information helpful.
If you are visiting this site because of my post, welcome! I hope you stay awhile. Feel free to browse through other posts that I have written. If you want to subscribe to the RSS feed or to e-mail updates, just look to the right of this post. You can also follow me on Twitter: @tessalou42. I try to post once a day. Thanks for reading!
Well folks, tomorrow’s the big day. My guest post will appear on Money Saving Mom! I will provide a direct link on here whenever it becomes a live post. I will also do a welcome post to our new readers!
I’m so excited! Have a great rest of your Sunday peeps.
Wasn’t that a cool show?! I can remember coming home from school and sitting with my brother in front of the TV waiting for it to come on. Ahhhh, the memories! (Anyways, I was referring to my absence from the blogosphere lately…but I’m back!)
I’ve actually been flooded with memories of all kinds lately. Luckily, these have all been good ones. I can’t even begin to describe how precious they are to me. And I know you feel the same way.
That’s the funny thing about memories…everyone has them and loves them, yet everyone has his or her own. I wish there were a way to capture memories in our heads and record them with a video camera or something. The only real way I know how to remember our memories is to write them down. I have been doing this like crazy…seriously, my journal is getting full just from the past couple of days! I love the stories of people who write down at least one sentence from each day of their life. How cool will it be for them to pass those down to their kids.
I hope that today you can remember something sweet from your past and quickly jot it down. Think about how neat it will be to show that memory to your family one day.
I apologize ahead of time for my next statement: this is the first time I’ve thought about blogging all week. *Gasp!
I’ve been busy trying to get all my stuff together to send to the first agent on my list (y’all be praying), and I wanted to put all of my effort there. But yesterday I read something that got my attention: good writers write. I can’t remember where I saw it or who said it, so I can’t give the proper credit. It resonated deep within me, though. If I want to be a good writer (which I do), I need to be writing. It’s a way of tweaking and practicing my craft.
So I apologize to you guys. I put this last on the list, when it should be listed as first under “practice writing.” I will try and do better!
